Owner Tony Munoz opened this IHRA-sanctioned eighth-mile strip in 2007 on the western edge of Pembroke Pines in the Miami area. It was the former Opa-Locka West Airport, which closed in 2006 and became a drag strip the next year. In 2008 the track added a skidpad for drifting. The strip saw many bad crashes in its short life, some of them on YouTube. The owner gave rock mining as the reason it closed, and the county had planned to quarry the land ever since the airport closed in 2006.
