An eighth-mile drag strip was reported in Coos Bay in 1967, but nothing more is known about it. It has no connection to the eighth-mile strip that opened in 1990 beside the Coos Bay International Speedway’s high-banked quarter-mile oval, on Highway 42 near U.S. 101. That strip is still running, NHRA sanctioned, with races run by the South Coast Drag Racing Association.
