This eighth-mile track, six miles south of Moncks Corner, was open by at least 1977, racing every Sunday under NHRA sanction. Jimmy Robinson of Lugoff won $175 for first place in Gas and Modified Eliminator on June 12, 1977, and Bobby Russell of Charleston won the same class in his Camaro on November 20. In 2001 neighbors complained to the Berkeley County Council about noise from Noli Galinato’s drag strip. F. Hammond Johnson filed incorporation papers for Lowcountry Dragway on February 25, 2005, and it ran only three years under that name before closing on April 21, 2007. The site is now a housing development.
