No records of drag racing at this air force base have turned up, but one racer remembers racing there in the early 1960s. The local chamber of commerce had no memory of any races.
Background
The Navy opened the field in October 1943, and the Air Force ran it as a Strategic Air Command base from September 1954 to December 1969. The old base near Burns Flat is now home to the Clinton-Sherman Industrial Airpark.
