By May 1963 this NHRA-sanctioned strip was racing on the first Sunday of each month at the municipal airport just southeast of Frederick. Hot Rod listings called it Frederick Drag Strip, and it was also known as Cherokee Strip Dragway. Racing reportedly started on the easternmost taxiway, heading north. Later in the 1960s cars ran east on the south taxiway, and in the 1970s they used the same taxiway running east to west. Marvin Griffin managed the track in 1967. It ran through at least 1977.
