This quarter-mile strip was 8.5 miles south of Grand Prairie out Center Street, west of Mountain Creek on the north side of Highway 80. The Chaparrals Roadster Club of Dallas sponsored the races, held every third Sunday in fifteen classes. The club had already held several races there in 1953, with racers coming from as far away as Southern California, before the fifth race on August 30, when more than 100 racers were expected. Bob James held the course record from the earlier races at 113.96 MPH.
