Dragstrip Road, now a residential street, marks where Campbellsville’s old drag strip was. The Kentucky State Championship Drag Races were held there on November 15, 1959. Early on it was called Central Kentucky Drag Strip. A 1960 aerial photo shows its layout, possibly while it was being built. In 1966 the strip opened under the management of the Danville Sportsdrome Speedway and was called Campbellsville Drag Strip by then, with Charles Denton as manager and Peanuts Moore classifying and inspecting cars. In July 1966 racing switched from a quarter mile to an eighth mile and from Sunday nights to Saturday nights. No record has turned up after 1966, which seems to have been its last year.
