Carroll Hill owned this strip about a mile and a half due north of Cedar Hill. The Duncanville Jaycees sponsored a race there on Sunday, December 3, 1961, with trophies and savings bonds as prizes. At the December 10 race, 400 spectators watched 76 cars, and $150 went to winners in three categories. Admission was $1. On March 23, 1962, 18-year-old Gary Crumpler was killed just after finishing a time trial. Going about 85 MPH, he missed the exit road, ran onto the dirt road past the end of the asphalt and hit a dirt mound, overturning four times. A friend riding with him was injured, though not seriously. It was Crumpler’s first drag race, and he had told his parents he was only going to watch. One old-time racer remembered a big dip about halfway down the track that gave racers and their cars quite a jolt. In 1967 a man was fatally stabbed at the strip during an argument. In early 1968 neighbors complained about the noise, and the Cedar Hill Board of Adjustments ruled for the strip after George Hill told the board he would stop all racing by midnight on Friday nights and on Sunday afternoons. A residential development has erased any trace of it.
