Gustave Bouvrette ran a half-mile oval 40 miles north of Montreal from 1951 to 1960. It began as a dirt horse racing track and was converted for stock cars. In the summer of 1960 promoter Gordon Atkinson staged 300-foot drag races on the front straightaway, with 47 trophies to be handed out and an all-expenses-paid trip to Speed Week at Daytona Beach in February 1961 for the top eliminator. It was the first organized drag race in Quebec. The track later closed to make way for industrial development.
