Hazel Mayers Smith filed incorporation papers for this strip on June 19, 1962. It was in Elgin, twenty miles north of Columbia, and was NHRA sanctioned by March 1969, when Ed Smith was the manager. Big purses and frequent match races brought in racers, and from 1969 it hosted NHRA regional points meets. Don Garlits raced at a points meet in 1975. At the 1976 points meet Gary Beck won top fuel and Ray Beadle won funny car, setting a track record of 6.28 at 220.04 MPH. The site is a residential area today, and the years the track ran are still uncertain.
