Drag races were held on a half-mile track near Bennington, possibly on a dirt landing strip just southwest of town. Jim Johannes of Salina ran 62 mph at one race in his 1932 Ford coupe and said Bennington was the only strip near Salina. The Camsnappers car club helped organize and run the races. Only a few were held before Ottawa County officials stopped them.
