This paved strip sat a mile off Highway 231, one mile north of Newton, which put it eight miles south of Ozark and fourteen miles north of Dothan. It opened on June 25, 1961. At a race on August 20, 1961, Billy “Big Deal” Jacobs took top eliminator in his ‘61 Super Stocker. New owners Frank Moring, Eldon Phillips and Don York took over in September 1963. Racing seems to have stopped around 1964, and the track appears to have come back around 1980 as Dale County Dragway.
